MALCOLM
BROGDON

Indiana • 2019-20
Dec. 1, 2019 - The Indiana Pacers welcomed their brilliant offseason addition back to the lineup last night after he sat out the previous three contests with a back injury. Brogdon has been a revelation for Indy and established himself early on as a far more adept playmaker than originally thought. Brogdon's role may change when Victor Oladipo eventually returns to the lineup but the Pacers have 85 million reasons to keep giving Brogdon opportunities to take his game to the next level. Fred VanVleet's number was always likely to come in around Malcolm Brogdon's deal -- and always likely to come from Toronto. He's come to embody the team's player development culture in going from an undrafted free agent to a franchise cornerstone.

Per The Athletic's Shams Charania, the Raptors and Fred VanVleet have agreed to a four-year, $85-million deal, with a player option for the fourth year. Essentially the same deal Malcolm Brogdon got as a restricted free agent last year in a sign-and-trade.

Last offseason, the Pacers were at the goal line on a free-agent deal with Ricky Rubio. Instead, they completed a sign-and-trade for Malcolm Brogdon. Now part of today’s trade, Rubio is headed to his third team in four seasons.
